September 21, Dalian—The International University Sports Federation (FISU) “Healthy Campus” project promotion event was successfully held at the Dalian Football Youth Training Base today. Attendees included representatives from FISU, foreign universities participating in the tournament, as well as heads of international exchange and sports departments from local universities in Dalian. Bertrand Finkel, Senior Manager of Education and Culture at FISU, delivered a keynote address, while Shen Zhen, FISU Chief Sports Officer, provided expert insights during a Q&A session. Together, they offered an in-depth interpretation of the “Healthy Campus” project’s core philosophy, certification standards, and implementation pathways. The event provided valuable international perspectives and professional expertise to help Dalian universities align with global healthy campus standards and systematically enhance their health education systems.
The FISU “Healthy Campus” project is a global initiative designed to promote health in higher education institutions. With its extensive international influence and professional authority, it has become an essential reference for healthy campus development worldwide. The project aims to foster university students’ physical and mental well-being and support balanced development of health education on campuses. Its evaluation system covers seven major areas with a total of 100 specific criteria.
The promotional event for the “Healthy Campus” project has built a bridge for universities in Dalian to connect with international health concepts, activating the “spillover effect” of resources from the FISU University World Cup Football and creating positive interaction between event resources and campus development. Universities in Dalian strive to use the “Healthy Campus” project as a key driver, actively benchmarking against advanced standards in campus construction and making every effort to address shortcomings in student development. By actively applying for the “Healthy Campus” project, they aim to build a paradigm of healthy campuses with an international vision, transforming the effects of the event into tangible outcomes in campus development and further enhancing the city’s reputation as a place where one can both teach and study.
As another highlight of the event, the “Study in Dalian” Initiative Special Scholarship was officially launched. Seizing the opportunity presented by the tournament and leveraging FISU’s global platform, the Dalian Sanwen Development Industrial Group Co., Ltd. established a scholarship fund of RMB 1 million to support outstanding international master’s students studying in Dalian. Dalian has long been committed to advancing the internationalization of its education sector. In 2024, the city released the “Study in Dalian” Initiative (2024–2027), outlining 30 specific measures to strengthen the “Study in China” brand in Dalian and support high-level opening-up in education. This initiative has showcased Dalian’s open, dynamic, and welcoming image to the world, laying a solid foundation for its collaboration with FISU.
