This cultural and artistic feast, blending Eastern and Western elements and transcending traditions, offered a spectacular audio-visual experience for athletes from 24 teams representing 17 countries and their international guests.

The show was jointly planned and organized by Education Commission of Dalian Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Dalian Education Bureau, aiming to leverage the spillover effects of the event, build a platform for cultural exchange among youth from various countries, and promote the deep integration of education, sports, and cultural arts.

After careful preliminary preparations, 36 outstanding works were selected from 139 submissions by 13 universities for the performance. Participants included students from local universities, professional art troupes, and artistic groups. To ensure a safe and orderly event, the executive committee office collaborated in advance with security, medical, and emergency response departments to develop comprehensive contingency plans.

On site, university faculty members meticulously organized the event, with over 200 performers presenting a well-coordinated and professional show that highlighted the vibrant spirit and cultural literacy of Dalian’s teachers and students.

The show commenced with a dazzling light display, instantly igniting the atmosphere. The opening song and dance performance, “Dalian Welcomes You,” was passionately presented by actors from Dalian University of Foreign Languages and the Teacher Art Troupe of Dalian Jinpu New Area. Through moving vocals and graceful dance, they showcased Dalian’s openness and inclusiveness.

Zhou Xunhao, a student from Dalian University of Foreign Languages, shared: “This song not only reflects the romantic urban culture of Dalian but also conveys the city’s warm welcome to young friends from around the world. We hope the seeds of friendship will grow through this multicultural exchange.”

Subsequently, the intangible cultural heritage program “China in Poetry and Painting · The Lion’s Martial Arts” seamlessly integrated traditional Chinese poetic imagery with lion dance performances. The Peking opera “The Elegance of Opera Rhythm” displayed the unique charm of the country’s quintessential art form through singing, recitation, acting, and combat. As the final song and dance performance began, the atmosphere reached its peak, with athletes from various countries joining the dancers on stage, turning the venue into a sea of joy and interaction.

Chen Hua, the chief director of the show, remarked: “Through this performance, students from Dalian’s universities used the stage as a medium, art as their language, light as their brush, and sound as their poetry. Their brilliant performance enriched the artistic foundation of football culture, ignited the passion of the football carnival, and conveyed a message of shared beauty and harmony across the world, showcasing the vitality of Dalian and the youthfulness of China.”

It is reported that two additional performances of the University Arts Show will be held on the evenings of September 22 and 25, offering even more captivating cultural experiences for the athletes.
