Behind the scene at the Dalian 2025 FISU University World Cup Football, dedicated “Little Starfish” volunteers are working tirelessly to ensure the success of the event. To keep them energized and motivated, the Executive Committee’s Volunteer Department, under the leadership of the Dalian Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, has established the Volunteers’ Home — a warm and welcoming hub that integrates physical refreshment, reading and rest, sustenance replenishment, and mental support.
Four Functional Zones
Physical Refreshment Station
Wish Wall: Volunteers write down service goals such as “complete tasks efficiently” and “deliver accurate information,” turning each colorful note into a youthful pledge of responsibility that fuels the event’s smooth operation.
Energy Mirror: A quick stop to adjust uniforms and smiles ensures every volunteer present their best professional look to spectators and athletes.
Inspiration Pump: Warm moments during the games — a spectator’s “thank you” or efficient teamwork are collected here, transforming gratitude into lasting motivation and passing on the spirit of dedication.
Reading and Rest Station
Book Corner: Focused on the guidance of the Game, some practical books like “International Etiquette Standards” and “Emergency Response Manuals” are neatly arranged, providing professional skills complement for volunteers.
Check-in Point: Volunteers jot down “Daily Reflections of the Day” and receive a special postcard stamped by commemorative seal, recording their journey from “newcomer” to “experts.” These postcards, carrying the breeze of Dalian, will become cherished memories.
Snack Bar: If you are feeling hungry, with sweet treats and books, laughter and sunshine, cookies and hot tea are ready to recharge body and spirit before volunteers return to duty.
Sustenance Replenishment Station
Meals Area: Hot meals keep volunteers fully fueled, ensuring stamina for long service hours.
Charging Area: No more worries about phone battery anxiety. Power banks are on hand to guarantee smooth communication and reliability.
Hot Water Area: A cup of hot water helps drive away fatigue and restores comfort, allowing volunteers to devote themselves to the service.
Mental Support Station
Recognizing that volunteers may experience fatigue and pressure during high-intensity services, the Liaoning (Dalian) 12355 Youth Service Platform offers a range of “Warm-hearted Supports”
Art Creation: Volunteers capture inspiring service moments like athletes striving for excellence, moments of team synergy through artistic drawing, reinforcing a sense of belonging and transforming pressure into passion for the games.
Psychological Sandbox: Guided by counselors, volunteers process emotions and thoughts and improve resilience to respond to emergencies.
Music Relaxation: Soft music helps calm the mind and restore balance, so as to store optimal energy for the next day’s service.
Release Space: Professional psychologists from the 12355 hotline provide counseling to ease stress and confusions and prepare volunteers for their next shift through professional guidance.
Comprehensive Support System
To safeguard volunteer services, the volunteer department has established an all-round support mechanism.
Equipment Support: Standard uniforms, hats, backpacks, and a custom badge for volunteers have been issued to enhance both safety and a sense of ritual.
Daily Security: Accident insurance covers all volunteers during the event, while shuttle buses connect six universities to competition venues, providing scheduled pick-up and drop-off services according to schedules and needs.
Recognition & Showcasing: Service hours are digitally recorded on the “Youth Dalian·City Volunteers” platform, and a special exhibition area highlights volunteers’ outstanding contributions, boosting their sense of achievement.
The Volunteers’ Home is more than just a resting place; it is a spiritual home for them where over 280 “Little Starfish” volunteers will find warmth and strength, serving with passion and showcasing the excellence of Chinese youth on the international stage.
